Green Peppers Orchard and Forest Garden

Picture
Maiden Lane is fast becoming an estate leading the way in green initiatives, with local residents developing ideas on how to make the green areas on the estate more productive and sustainable.

Green Peppers and Allensbury Forest Garden is a local resident led voluntary group that has been improving green spaces on Maiden Lane for 6 years and offers various gardening opportunities for l
ocal people.

Maiden Lane Community Centre has set up a Community Enterprise that delivers the grounds maintenance contract on the estate.  This includes maintenance of all the green spaces and keeping the public gardens, lawns, footpaths and car parks in good order throughout the year. Also planting New Orchard called  Spring Bank Walk Orchard leading to a Community Garden that has bean designed by a group of Permaculture Students

The aims of Maiden Lane Community Enterprise are:
To engage the community in gardening and local food growing by providing volunteering opportunities, apprenticeships and paid work.
To increase local people's skills by offering training in horticulture and Permaculture.
To improve the green spaces on Maiden Lane Estate.
